It was agreed during the Regional Consultation held on 7-10
July at the Century Park Hotel Bangkok, Thailand that Capacity
Building through national or regional Workshops, networking
and roster of experts, among others, human resource development
on biosafety; IPR; communication and information management.
In pursuance, there will be four regional training workshops
to address common needs (Risk assessment and management procedures;
GMO detection; Public awareness/participation and IPR) and
10 national workshops (one for each country) to be sponsored
by the project. The national workshops will address specific
needs of the country. Each country may hold additional workshop
as the need arise, but the country has to seek its own resource.
In this regard, each focal point of the project is requested
to submit a proposal for the national training/workshops they
need to conduct. The proposal should indicate the topic, the
objective, the period and duration, target audience, expected
output and budgetary requirement.
The proposal should be submitted to the project secretariat
on or before August 15 to enable the secretariat to calendar
the activities and program the workshop funds.
